The Lucky Malay Boy

Aminul, you were lucky
Killed by only a bullet
A clear-cut shot that ended your inferior life
With a single thundering fire
Life, concluded as simple as a full stop
Less the torturing pain

Aminul, you were lucky
If given a chance to visit our detention house
You could see it with your own eyes
How hospitable we are in entertaining
From the weird expressions on their faces
From the dislocations of their organs
And finally, enlightened after 5 days of struggle
Before turning into some cold bodies

You should feel how lucky you were

Note: This poem mimics the arrogant tone of the Police Department with regards to the recent unfortunate incident.

Liked it, though the background incident is not completely known. But the life of the suffered/opressed/down-troden always has the same black back-drop. Scratching the thick layer of indiffenence from our own faces is a poet's prime job asigned by himself to himself. Would love to read many more translations.-Sudhirkumar Dhawadkar, India

Thanks, Sudhirkumar. But unfortunately I don't have the luxury of time to do translation.
